We sifted through nationwide listings in search of private islands on the market for less than $400,000. We turned up nine islands from across the country—on freshwater and saltwater. Come sail away to a bungalow on a 3-acre island in the middle of a freshwater lake in Florida, retreats in both Maine and Minnesota, and a romantic getaway for two in New York.
